Week Eight - Divided Nine Patch

Hi there, well here we are at week 8 for the Sew A Long.

I hope that you have enjoyed making your blocks and looking forward to more and more.

This weeks block looks like you will be piecing little wee bits together to make the centre section - well NO you wont be. This is a clever block that looks more complicated than it actually is. I love this.

The six inch block has been on the design wall in my sewing room for a couple of years. I’ve had a go, liked the block, popped it up on the wall and there is has stayed, Good grief - I have so many blocks that this has happened to.

It must have been waiting for this project haha.

Remember that we have a weekly video tutorial chat about the block for the week. It is on our Facebook page and also our Instagram page. Check it out for more info on this block.

The good old Nine Patch block is a traditional block and with a bit of slicing and dicing you can turn it into a whole new look. A whole quilt of this block would be stunning. I would probably have a different middle strip in each block and of course stunning with scrappy fabrics.

I’m sure this block has come about by someone accidentally slicing through their nine patch block. How annoying that would be but sew a strip through the middle and there you have it - a new block. Fantastic.

Have a great week, catch you back here next week for Block Nine.
