Week 10 - Bow Ties

Block 10 Bow Tie.jpg

Hi there

Thanks for joining us again this week - week 10 of our Sew A Long and we are making a Bow Tie block. Well, actually a group of Bow Tie blocks to make our block.

This week I have two layouts for you. The 12” block has eight Bow Tie blocks and a plain centre. The 6” block just has four Bow Tie blocks. I have used the same background through the block and you of course can make it scrappier with a combination of fabrics. Same for the Bow Ties themselves.

I’ve definitely locked in my red and cream combination for the 6” blocks and seem to be leaning towards blues for the 12”.

I’ve found some stunning quilts made from this simple wee block, just for a bit of inspiration.

The three quilts above are from a blog post by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter.

As with a lot of quilt blocks, there are different ways to layout your blocks and you have an alternate pattern. I love this! Here are a couple of examples of other layouts
