Join us for our Sew a long
I do love a sew a long project - you can work on it at your own pace, make all the blocks or just the ones you like. Many options make it a fun and free project.

How it works -
One block a week - starting Wednesday 6th May 2020. Each week will be a different block, Some well known blocks and some new ones to try.
Suitable for all levels of experience.
Each week on a Wednesday I will post on our Blog the instructions for a block.
The instructions will be for two sizes - 6” or 12” finished blocks. You can make as many as you would like of each block.
Along with the instructions I will be doing a tutorial on each block and how to construct it. These will be on the blog, Facebook and Instagram.
What you will need -
Fabric requirements - I have a love of scrappy quilts so I am using up any combination of darks, mediums and lights.
Don’t you hate it when those are the options.
We have starter packs online for you in a variety of styles. Perfect to get you started but also so you can add in fabric from your stash.
Amounts - as you don’t know yet, probably, what you are going to end up doing with 52 blocks I suggest Fat 1/8ths are a good place to start. In NZ this is 10” x 22”. Fat Quarters are also a great option. A total of 3 metres of dark, medium and lights is a good starting place. This amount won’t include borders etc.
You won’t need any special tools to make these blocks. Just your usual rotary cutter, board, rulers - a 6 1/2” square will be handy. Thread and usual bits and bobs that you normally use.
I really recommend a spray starch and wool ironing mat. I’ll talk about these more each week. You can get both from us of course.
I will be showing you in the tutorials the tools I use to make my blocks.
I’m really looking forward to doing this project with you. I would love to see your blocks and if you could use the hashtag #dqc52sewalong so I can see them.
See you on Wednesday 29th for our first block.
