Four our 12” blue block we have used four
Week 31 - Card Trick
This week we are making the Card Trick block and it’s a beauty. There are a few “tricks” to this block - haha. You have four fabrics and a background work with. The tricky part is that you have to keep track of what fabrics you put together as this is what makes the interlocking pattern.
I cut out all the pieces - including the diagonal cut for
Week 30 - Puzzle Block
Hi there, how has your week been going ? My apologies for the two day delay in getting this block up on the blog for you. Somehow my week has got away on me and here we are at Friday already. Christmas plans, end of year shop plans etc etc etc.
Have you ticked off all your Christmas to do list yet? I have made a good solid start but
Week 29 - Broken Dishes
Good morning and welcome back to our Sew A Long for 2020.
This week we are making the Broken Dishes block. A very traditional block but this one is made slightly differently. I love it when I see another way of making something - even better is that it works so well too!
I saw this block on
Week 28 - Geese in a Row
Hi there and welcome back to our next block for the Sew A Long 2020.
This week we are making a block all about flying geese. We have made a flying geese block back in Week Nine with Circling Geese. For that block we used the method of making four matching blocks at the same time out of one square. This time we are going to be making our block
Week 27 - Bear Paw
Good morning, hope you are all well. Wow, we have had some serious rain here the last couple of days. I live at Maraekakaho and we are all okay and not too flooded. Thinking of everyone in Napier though and really hoping that the rain eases up today. Watching the news this morning - wow, what a lot of damage done to some homes and neighbourhoods.
Okay, this week we have the Bear Paw Block. Oh my goodness, I am loving our
Week 26 - Shoo Fly Block
Wow, here we are at Week 26 - half way through our Sew Along for 2020. It has flown by! How are you doing with your blocks?
Don’t worry if you are a wee bit behind, they will be up on our blog for a long time.
This week we are making the Shoo Fly Block. It does look quite a bit like …
Week 25 - Jacob’s Ladder
This week we are making a more traditional block - Jacobs Ladder Block. A combination of half square triangles and four patch. In our two blocks, I have changed the placement of the fabrics in the 12” block compared to the 6”. In the 12” block - blue version - I have made the squares that go diagonally the same fabric as the I have used for the half square triangles.
I love that with a small tweak you can change -
Week 24 - Magic Triangles
Hi ladies, here we are at Week 24 for our Sew A Long - the Magic Triangle. I’m not so sure how the name of this block came about but it’s a lovely combination of pinwheels.
You will have already made and be expert at half square triangles. This block the half square triangles are made from a couple of combinations. All the info is in ….
Week 23 - Log Cabin Variation
I am getting all packed up and ready to head off to our Quilt Retreat Weekend, starting tonight. I’ll be posting loads of photos on all the marvellous projects that everyone is making. Kind of have sewing envy too when I see whats being made haha.
Here we are with this weeks block - Week 23 already. We are nearly half way through already. This week we have a variation on a Log Cabin block. We have actually made a Log Cabin Block back in
Week 22 - Picnic Pinwheel
Good morning, how are you doing today?
I have been on holiday for the last 10 days - yes I counted them - and when I say holiday I mean hanging out at home. I am so lucky to live on a beautiful property so holidaying at home is a lovely thing to me. Lots of thinking about all the things I could/should do and even getting some of them done. An unfortunate interruption
Week 21 - Economy Block
Hi there ladies, how has your week been? To be honest, it’s been a bit of a tough week for me. One of the highlights - among many - of my year are the quilt tours that we do. This week we should have been just leaving Vermont, with the stunning autumn colours and heading to
Week 20 - Prairie Queen
Hope your week has gone well. So happy that we are now at Level 1 and thinking of you all in Auckland and hoping that you are with us at Level 1 really soon.
This weeks block is the Prairie Queen with a combination of half square triangle and four patch units. I have placed …
Week 19 - Criss Cross Celebration
Huge apologies no block for last week. Dear goodness, having technical issues with my computer is enough to send me. I had to finally admit defeat and get some help for it. So, all sorted now and we have just pretended that last week didn’t happen haha.
This weeks block is another favourite of mine and we call it the Criss
Week 18 - Disappearing Four Patch
Okay, this week we are making the Disappearing Four Patch. Kind of carrying on the theme of last weeks block and a similar method but makes quite a different block. Who knew that you can get this block from
Week 17 - Disappearing Nine Patch
Here we are at Week 17 and our block for this week is the Disappearing Nine Patch.
I love a block that looks like you have done more work than you actually have - no sewing little squares in this block. It all happens in the making of a simple nine patch block.
Week 16 - Triple Rail
Hi ladies,
This week we are making the Triple Rail block and making four in each size block - 6” or 12”.
A nice easy to piece block - no half square triangles and only one seam to butt in the middle of the block.
All depending on where you have placed your colours, you can twist and turn
Week 15 - Friendship Star
Hi there ladies
Oh my goodness !!!!!!! We have been making mask kits and they are flying out the door. I am so thankful for my fantastic ladies that work with. A huge thank you as well for everyone that has come by the shop to get their kits. If you have to wear a mask then it might as well be a pretty fabric.
My intention last week was to put these up on our website but …
Week 14 - Ohio Star
Hi there, here we are at week 14 for our Sew A Long. This week we are making an Ohio Star - yes another star block but with a different way of constructing your star points. Check out our Facebook or Instagram page for our video tutorial on how to make these blocks.
